In his new book entitled "Cliches of Liberalism: Governing Through Insult, Confusion and Sound Bites," author David C. Wilcox has included photographs of several famous persons, among them four presidents: Calvin Coolidge, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
To locate photos of each, he conducted a search on the Internet, and without difficulty retrieved suitable images of presidents Coolidge, Eisenhower and Reagan.
Thinking President Clinton's image from Jan. 27, 1998 -- the day he wagged his finger to a national television audience and uttered the immortal line 'I did not have sex...' -- best captured the essence of the man and his presidency, Mr. Wilcox next conducted a search for "Bill Clinton Wagging Finger."
Which returned numerous matches. When Mr. Wilcox clicked on the first, he found himself smack dab in the middle of a pornographic site that included obscene fake movies of such Clinton pals as Barbra Streisand.
Inspection of the other matches ultimately proved that an innocent search for a simple picture of our nation's highest elected official more often than not leads to pornography.
However, this isn't the end of the story. When one visits such an eye-opening site, the host has the option of adding the person's e-mail address to their e-mailing list, which then can be shared with other cyberspace smut purveyors. Judging from the periodic unwanted solicitations from such pornographers, Mr. Wilcox's name ended up on several porno e-mailing lists.
Mr. Clinton won't like this book, especially the section entitled "The Divine Right of the King," highlighting the dishonesty of the president and his minions during l'Affaire Lewinsky.
Nevertheless, Mr. Clinton's legacy -- as reflected by what one finds when searching for the president's picture on the Web -- has already provided an indirect form of revenge on at least one of his critics.
